The Djoker has the Last laugh and the last Grand Slam of 2011.

What seemed like the clash of titans, it was Serbia’s and World number 1, Novak Djokovic who beat the Spanish Armada, Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1 to lift the 2011 US Open Men’s Singles title.

It was a final that stood up to everyone’s expectations, World number 1 Novak Djokovic versus the 2010 defending Champion and World number 2 Rafael Nadal. This roller coaster, four hour long match had everyone guessing who would emerge as the conqueror. But it was the Djoker who has been on a dream run this season, continued to spread his magic even on the hard courts of the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
It was a day for of the Serb who despite fighting back problems played aggressively for the most part of the match and stunned the Spaniard by hitting every shot that Nadal played. Novak’s confidence was visible as he tracked down every shot, hitting extremely deep. The Djoker had all the tricks up his sleeve has he Rafa to play way behind the baseline. Pushing Nadal behind the baseline and then playing short balls was a smart tactic to use to demolish the powerful Rafa Nadal.

Novak however did not dominate throughout the matches, in the 3rd set it was Nadal who regained his form and gave the Serb a definite run for his money. Nadal won the set 7-6. However, this was short lived. In the fourth and the final set, Novak Djokovic leading 5-1, he hit a forehand and emerged as the 2011 US Open Men’s Single Winner. For Djoker, it was a dream come true as “Nothing can replace that feeling.”
